Picture Motivation

It's super cold here (40 degrees this morning!) and I hate it. Seriously, we only had two and a half months of summer this year. Now it's back to jeans and sweatshirts and scraping my car in the morning. Grrr...

What also frustrates me is that I can't fit into any of my pants from just last winter! It appears I've gained ten lbs. since then. Go me. Being the cheapo that I am, I just stuff myself into them instead of buying a new pair.

This picture was taken maybe a month ago when I went to breakfast with my Grandma, who was in town:

AAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!

Whew. Okay. I just had to get that out. That was seriously my reaction when I first saw this picture. LOOK. AT. ME. I can't even stand it. Do you ever have those moments where you see yourself in a pic and just almost pass out from the horror of it? Literally, I just snapped. Not in a bad way, but in a "I'm now going to use this picture as motivation and finally, finally bust my butt and lose those 30lbs" kind of way. I put this same pic up on my fridge, so that when I'm scrounging around for a snack, I pick fruit instead of cookies. I bring this with me when I run on the treadmill, and when I feel like I can't go anymore I look at the pic and push myself just a little bit more. Just one more minute. Just one more half mile...

That is one thing I've always appreciated about going to the gym. I see other women there that just look good. And because they look good, you can tell they just feel good. My gym membership ended, but I've been doing p90x and running dilligently for the last two weeks. I've only lost about 2lbs., but I've lost a few inches. My love handles to hang over quite so much. Now, instead of looking at the other people working out around me for motivation, I'm using this pic. It's working.

What's your motivation?

Ahh...Cait I love this post. I think a pic is great motivation. Dustin and I were just talking about our weight yesterday as a matter of fact. The truth is that now I have to get serious also. I just wasn't going to do it in our summerer heat and I knew that. But now I need to andwith Hawaii coming up next year (hopefully) I need to lose the extra lbs!! SO proud of you and 2 lbd isa big deal!!! Can't wait to see your journey!!

You crack me up!! I wish you luck on this journey! My motivation is that I don't want to buy new pants...or if I have to I want them to be a smaller size! I also feel better when I go to the gym...like you said. Oh, and I think this is a cute picture of you and your grandma! That's cool you got to do lunch!

My motivation is a pair of pants I bought 2 years ago when I was 1 pound from my "goal" weight. Then I gained back some weight. So my goal is to be able to fit in them and look good in them. I can zip them up right now, but they just don't look that great. Hopefully 10 more pounds and I'll be there. Good job on 2 lbs that is great!!!! And I like your motivation way.

I found your blog on my sister Penni's blog. You don't know me, but I just had to comment. I also recently took a good look at a pic of myself and decided I'd had enough of my weight gain. I actually love exercising, but I also really love fast food...so that's my challenge. My motivation is a pic of myself after I had my second son...I lost 50 pounds with hard work. I want to look like that again! Sorry for the novel of a comment. : )

Amy - (I found your name on your blog. Which, by the way, I LOVE your design! It's so cute. And you have a such a darling family!!) Please, comment away! I love that you left one. You lost 50lbs!! I'm in awe. That's so awesome, I'm now using you as my idol. I have 40 lbs. to lose total, but right now I'm just working on the hurdle of 10. My weakness is baked goods, which I'm not sure I can ever give up. So maybe if I work super hard it'll even itself out, right?

I'm looking forward to following your blog and reading about your family. And drooling over your cute boys!

I think it's a great goal and a great way to motivate yourself, but don't beat yourself up! You can do it and you will!
