My Hands Smell Like Bleach

I was very industrious this morning and did the dishes AND got half of the bathroom cleaned. So, now my hands smell like bleach. I'm going to be obsessively washing my hands today and this will prove to my co-workers that I'm even more weird than they originally thought.

So, can't believe MJ died yesterday. I mean, people die everyday but for some reason when famous people die just randomly, it's so weird! Like Heath Ledger. That was random and even though I had never met MJ or Heath, I do appreciate their work. I didn't become an MJ fan until I started dancing (I used to be a pretty darn good west coast swing dancer, but then I got married) and nothing would get my feet moving and my blood pumpin' more than some good ol' MJ. I love me some Thriller, Billie Jean and The Way You Make Me Feel (at least I think that's the name of the song). In tribute I'm going to plug in my iPod, and do a mini west coast swing dance with myself. The man definitely knew how to dance and make music. I also hope that after the tortured and crazy life he led on this earth, he has found a little peace at last.

Food Lovers Anonymous

It's now almost July and I wanted to take stock of where I'm at with my weight loss/get back in shape goal. This post is going to be a mix between Bridget Jones and what I think an AA meeting would be (never having been an alcoholic myself, I've never been to one). So, here we go-

:::Musings On:::

Name: Caitlin Peterson

Age: 24

Current Weight: 176lbs.

Target Weight: 135lbs. (or size 8, whatever weight that entails)

Pant/Skirt/Short Size: A semi-comfortable 14

Progress since New Year Resolution: NONE. Bloody same weight as beginning of year. Had a goal to lose 35lbs. by June. JUNE. As in the month that's almost over. Bugga.

Current Food Addictions/Weaknesses: Chocolate chip cookies, Dr. Pepper, freshly baked rolls, chocolate covered graham crackers, chips of all kinds and varities, and pretty much any baked good item (donuts, muffins, cupcakes.. that sort of thing)

Length of Addiction: 23 years (since I'm pretty sure during my first year of life, I didn't eat solid food)

Length of Time I Can Run Before Passing Out: 7.5 min (I went to my very first cycling class yesterday morning and it KICKED. MY. TRASH)

Last item of food eaten: Twix candy bar (but before that I ate a small salad and banana!!!)

Amt of Times I Exercise Per Week: Two. Maybe three times if I am really good. Although I have good intentions!

Self Reflection/Insights: If I had to hazard a guess.. an addiction is an addiction. Unfortunately, my addiction is to living an unhealthy lifestyle. Do I know HOW to be healthy? Yes. Is it easier to live healthier? Maybe not at first when I'm huffin' and puffin and sore all the time, but in the end I know that I will be "free". My body because it will perform like it's supposed to, and my mind because I won't be constantly be focusing on how overweight I am/feel. I just can't believe I let it get this bad! And it wasn't an overnight thing.. it was a slow creeping, and one day I suddenly couldn't fit into my clothes anymore. How can I fix this? It's all about the principle of sacrifice. I sacrifice now (time, sleep, yummy food) for what I want later (a great looking body, good health and a better self-image). I also have to practice the lessons of moderation. Should I deny myself a chocolate chip cookie completely? I hope not! Do I need to bake a batch every week and eat the whole thing? No!! Instead of going overboard, enjoy the foods that I love every once in awhile.

Now, about the exercise.. it's hard. I ain't gonna lie. I hate getting up at 5:20 in the morning to huff it out on the elliptical and do 50 crunches. The thing that gets me though.. I always, always, ALWAYS feel so much better after I'm done working out. What is the disconnect? I know I will feel better, so why don't I go? Now that one I can't answer. Anyone got any ideas? Anyone?

:::Musings Off:::

I'm sure y'all woke up this morning and thought to yourselves "Man, I really want to know what's on Cait's mind today" And... here it is. I'm overweight and I hate it. But for the last three days I've had a knock-down-drag-out fight with myself and now have a renewed purpose in life to lose weight and become healthier. I WILL do it.

Thanks for listening.

My New Idol

Meet Ree Drummond. She is The Pioneer Woman and she is freakin' AMAZING. I just spent the last three hours reading her love story. I started it at work today (it was ridiculously slow), and immediately came home, changed into my fat pants, sat down with my chocolate covered graham cookies and became engrossed (and ate the whole package of cookies.. see why I need the fat pants?). You have GOT to READ it. It's like a novel. Except online. And shorter. I actually moved my recliner chair in front of the computer (little computer chair = sore butt) cause I couldn't stop reading. I'm not sure how long she's been doing this website but it's full of GREAT information. Plus, she's just an excellent writer. I haven't even begun to tap into all the different blog entires she's got on there. Did I mention that I think Ree is pretty darn cool?

Okay, I'll stop my mini-blogger-crush and let you all get on with your lives. ;-)

What do you think?

Of my new header? Jared has been out of town for practically the whole month, and so this is what I do with my free time. I also designed a new header for my food blog, so head on over and tell me what you think. I'm also going to be trying some different embellishments and whatnot.

I completely screwed up my original template (ack!) and have been spending the last hour fixing it. Soo.. everything is not in it's proper place. But that's a job for when I'm sitting at work tomorrow. Everything should be back to normal soon, although I'm pretty sure I'm freaking out about it more than you are. Doh!

Short & Sweet

My cute aunt Kelley and my two little cousins, Mason and Emily came over to my mom's house last night for a visit. They are in town from CA, and ate dinner with us and generally kept us entertained the whole night. It was really fun to get to know them a little bit better! All of my cousins on my mom's side of the family are little kids, so.. we really don't have anything in common yet. Someday when they are my age, I'm going to be their weird 40 yr old. cousin. Uhh.. that's too strange to think about right now. The joys of the typical American family.

We had a great little visit, had some good bbq and had a chance to catch up. Fun!

SYTYCD Opening Night

I have a huge dilemma. I really like almost all the dancers this season!! I'm having a hard time narrowing down my top fav's, but here they are so far:

Randi, who oddly enough, teaches my boss's daughter at dance school. So there's a slight connection there, even though I've never met her. But I'm really impressed by her dancing! Her and Evan's dance last night was just so beautiful.

The most unusual dance last night was the crash dummy test dance. Whoa! Talk about creativity. I personally never would have come up with that in a million years. I think he was absolutely amazing though!

Whoa.. did you see the samba last night? Hot stuff!! I'm pretty partial to latin ballroom, and I can admire the talent you must have to not have any prior knowledge and come out looking like a pro. Plus, she's gorgeous and that doesn't hurt either. AND.. I really love that her family supports her 100%.

Okay, this guy is just cute. And he was SPOT ON on the Bollywood dance. I'm not sure if that's the correct name, but you get the gist. Wow! I think he's going to go far for sure.

And last, but definitely not least.. is Evan. SUPER, SUPER CUTE!! I love his fun style and he also did amazing in the jazz routine with Randi! He's just so adorable. I felt really bad that in last week's show when they picked the top 20 they pitted him against his brother. Awful! Everyone absolutely loves the show and they didn't need to add that drama to it.

And there you have it. My favorite dance of last night was probably.. hmm.. Evan and Randy's jazz/contemporary number. Followed closely by the crash dummy dance. Only b/c they were brilliant at it and it was so unusual. I'm going to a bbq party tonight, so I won't be able to watch the results show but I'll definitely be catching up online. I always feel bad for the first couple that gets cut, since they don't really have a chance to shine. Just goes to show that first impressions are everything. I'm exited to see what next week brings!

"Bring on the Rain!!"

Can I say how excited I am that Hollywood has gotten it's act together and is coming out with totally AWESOME movies this summer?!?!?!

First Off:

http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi757662489/

Mostly I just love Shia LeBeouf. He's my #1 celebrity crush right now, by far. And Jared thinks Megan Fox is hott, so it's a win-win for both of us. PLUS.. the first movie is probably in my top five favs, hands down. I can't WAIT for June 24! Jared is going to be at an army school during that opening week, so I might have to wait a few days. Or maybe I'll just see it twice... quite the dilemma.

And, I am equally excited about:

http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi1061421849/

HARRY POTTER!!! If you don't know by now, I am a big Harry Potter nut. HUGE! Love it! This one comes out July 15 and you know where Jared and I are going to be on July 14th at midnight (I guess technically it's July 15th at midnight.. details, details)? Sittin' in the theater baby!!! Jared's not so excited about going to the midnight showing, but he loves me and is going to humor me. Anywho, I better get busy and read the sixth book over again, so it's all fresh in my mind.

Oh, what fun this Summer of Movies will be!

Ethan's Graduation

My "little" brother Ethan graduated high school on Friday!! The ceremony was short and sweet and it was awesome to be able to be there for this special occasion. His school does this weird thing where they rent the graduation gowns. So after the ceremony was over they had to give the gowns back! So we didn't get to do the traditional cap, gown and diploma pic.. but that's okay. At least he was wearing a green tie so that made up for it. His school colors are green and gold, and the guys wore green cap and gowns and the girls wore gold (I mistakenly called it yellow and was chastised... my bad) cap and gowns. Utah has weird graduations. They split the guys and girls up, they wear different colored caps and gowns, and they don't sit alphabetically. Plus, they have a bazillion musical numbers! I don't think I had any musical numbers at my graduation. Just one really, really long salutorian speech. I'm still recovering.

Anyway, that night we went to Texas Roadhouse for the big celebration dinner. It was.. not great. I'd heard really great things about this restaurant and how awesome it is but I was not impressed. Both Ethan and I got sick afterwards. So.. I may not repeat that experience.

CONGRATS BRO!!
